TalentCorp And UPM Organise Sector Focused Career Fair Focusing On Entertainment And Communication
Serdang, 27 May 2014 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) organised a Sector Focus Career Fair (SFCF) in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to link graduates with employers offering career opportunities in the entertainment and communication sectors.
The two-day career fair, held at UPM, enabled job-seekers to engage with chief executives and senior HR practitioners from more than 30 participating companies including Astro, IRDA, KRU Studios, KRU Academy, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Maxis, Leaderonomics, Federal Express and MyStarJob Network.
There were also career talks by prominent industry figures such as Norman Abdul Halim (Normal KRU), Executive President and Group CEO of KRU Studios; Seelan Paul, CEO of Radio Networks, Media Prima Berhad; Nash Idrus, President of LVG Consultants, and a special appearance by actor and entrepreneur Sazzy Falak. Other activities included networking sessions, student and industry engagement programmes and career aptitude test.

The industry is also supported by the Government’s push to develop creative content, amplified through the development of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, an integrated media production facility,” said Johan Mahmood Merican, CEO of TalentCorp.
Prof Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UPM concurs, “With the industry vast expanding, students should take this opportunity to connect with companies in the entertainment & communication industry. Take this time to get introduced to the latest innovation-based career, get exposed to career opportunities that are entertainment, social media and communication oriented, which are one of the main contributors in developing the economy of Malaysia nowadays.”
The SFCF is one of TalentCorp’s initiatives to increase graduates’ employability, and aims to raise awareness of the exciting career opportunities in key sectors of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). Approximately three thousand students are expected to participate in the two-day career fair.
