MALAYSIA CRITICAL OCCUPATIONS LIST
Identifying Malaysia’s Occupational Shortages
Identifying Malaysia’s Occupational Shortages
The Malaysia Critical Occupations List (MyCOL) is a set of occupations in demand that identifies the skills imbalance across 18 economic sectors in Malaysia. It aims to be one of the primary instruments to promote better coordination of human capital policies aimed at attracting, nurturing and retaining talent.
Collated on an annual basis by the Critical Skills Monitoring Committee (CSC), led by TalentCorp under the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), the MyCOL was developed based on recommended international practices. In the 12th Malaysian Plan, the scope for MyCOL has been expanded to cover skills in demand, as well as state and regional shortages analysis
Because the MyCOL is developed with the data from employers, it provides a big picture of the skills and occupations that are in demand within the industries. It also gives you a better idea of the occupations that will be prioritised by policymakers, especially in the aspects of immigration.
MyCOL will continue to expand in its efforts to bridge the supply and demand gap in the labour market by identifying occupations and skills that are in demand and hard-to-fill.
